Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan has been placed in "lockdown" in an isolation cell following a hysterical outburst in her California prison, Britain's Daily Mirror reported Saturday on its website.

Lohan, 24, who was jailed Tuesday at Lynwood women's prison for parole violations, had the meltdown apparently after other prisoners began taunting her about her sexuality.

The newspaper quoted three inmates saying the actress and singer began screaming and wailing Friday when other prisoners started chanting "fire crotch" at her, a reference to Lohan's relationship with female DJ Sam Ronson.

One of the prisoners told the Daily Mirror that Lohan had turned the other inmates against her by crying all night and keeping the other incarcerated women awake.

"The wards are cold and smelly, they stink," Cheryl Presser, 43, told the Mirror. "The air conditioning is turned up so high that you can’t sleep because of the cold. Inmates try and shove the air vents full of toilet paper to stop the air coming out, but it doesn’t work.

“Lindsay would lie there shivering all night, crying and trying to cover her face with her hands. Her wailing was keeping everyone awake," Presser was quoted saying.

“She is in with the killers and she has only been let out for hour-long breaks, and during those she was locked down to a table. Today (Friday), Lindsay got put on lockdown. While some of us got two hours to go to the yard, or the TV room, Lindsay was on total lockdown.

“She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling so she got put in isolation.”

Another released inmate, who slept three beds away from Lindsay in the prison, told the Mirror: “She was just sitting in her cell staring straight ahead. Sometimes wailing, but mostly just sitting.

“Some of the inmates in our ward, some of the tougher ones, were yelling ‘fire crotch’ at her.

“They just started chanting it at her. Lindsay didn’t say nothing. She was crying though.”

Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in prison for violating probation conditions attached to an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction, but she is now expected to serve less than two weeks behind bars.

How would you defend Twitter against people who say it's just another social media site ruining our teens?

"I think that my last statement actually defended Twitter greatly, which was that I knew about the cracked sea floor a couple of weeks ago and that's through Twitter. I think that any time that media access is limited, somehow Twitter gets a way to get the information out there. I didn't understand Twitter until the protests in Iran and then I started following some college students who were Tweeting real time about the protests. There was something so personal and relevant about getting their immediate information through my own computer screen rather than through the filter of mass media."

You've mentioned in the past that you're not a big fan of Jersey Shore. Any change of heart?

"I've really never seen an episode. That whole thing came about because someone asked me—actually at a UNICEF event which was so bizarre. But they asked me what I thought of Jersey Shore, and I've never seen it but my husband showed me a promo on YouTube and, you know, I don't think I'll be watching that show. The next day it was everywhere that I hated Jersey Shore. I've never seen the show, people seem to enjoy it though. So as long as it's not hurting people."
